Get yourself to Palm Island in the St. Vincent and Grenadines. Loose the kids with the outlaws though.

The only reason it's funny is because Polites kid would never be caught dead bumming a whitey, even if it was his dad

Loved Port Antonio and Ocho Rios in Jamaica. Felt safe everywhere, friendly locals, beautiful scenery, waterfalls etc and hardly a tourist or fat septic in sight.

Why? Because I just booked Air BnB places so actually stayed in the real world rather than some generic, soulless security gated compound with no character. As someone else has said, if you are staying at one of these places, its pretty irrelevant which country its in as they surely all look the same.

Personally it would be a waste of money taking my kids anywhere like that.. As long as they've got warm sunshine and a pool they are happy as Larry.. They wouldn't care less if they were in Jamaica, Bali or Cuba.. Sun is sun and a pool is a pool.

Besides, if anyone is going to bum Polite's kid, I'm sure he'll be doing it himself.

I agree with Mr Polite.

Why would anybody care what is said to them by someone they have no respect for?

Went to Montego Bay two years ago, stayed at the Secrets Wild Orchid, above average food, good music, great snorkeling and sailing and SUPing. For me the locals have a massive chip on their shoulder, felt like they were trying to rip you off at every turn, or get one over on you. Based on that I didn't feel safe leaving the complex, despite a Jamaican mate saying it is safe.
Just got back from the Riviera Maya, been a few times up and down from Tulum to Playa, boring coastline, friendly staff in resorts, careful you don't get ripped off at petrol stations etc, Depends what you're looking for but Tulum more with nature, non resort and very laid back. A lot safer feel than Jamaica IMHO.
Barbados last year, very friendly and safe. Less Americans but more Brits which can be equally as annoying esp if you're stuck near a load of Yorkshire lads and lasses with their annoying little kids. Horses for courses I suppose.
Drove all around the island, made our own gin and vodka based drinks and just packed loads of ice, did loads of day day trips and found some lovely deserted beaches for snorkeling and swimming with turtles etc. stayed near St Lawrence Gap and went to a lot of west coast beaches. East coast pretty cool but roads are a fucking nightmare. People are really nice, much safer feel than Jamaica
St Lucia very nice, friendly and similar feel to Barbados.

Won't be going back to Jamaica in a hurry, next stop Cuba and the BVIs.

As for best place for kids, depends on age, but it's a bloody long way to go, water is warm and sun's out most of the time. Personally I'd take my kids on a holiday in Devon and Cornwall in the summer.

Stayed at Sandals in Montego Bay and would never return to Jamaica. Continually hassled by the locals who get quite abrasive. Never felt safe in Jamaica and was warned off going to Kingston Town as there were continual gang wars going on. Inside the resort was OK but we could have been anywhere. My vote goes to Aruba or Granada. Loved them both and Cuba is also a much better option.
Have a good holiday.

Re: All inclusive holidays Montego Bay Jamaica
I look at offensiveness in 2 ways.

If it was meant as a joke, even if you don't find it funny there is no reason to take offence.

If it was meant seriously and to offend. then the person isn't worth any of my energy and therefore what's the point in getting offended if that's what they want.

Which is why, in my whole life I have never been offended and never will be. Offence is a made up concept for the needy to get attention.
